William "Bill" McLafferty, 56, of Plant City, FL, formerly of Port Charlotte, FL passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on April 21, 2017. He was the son of William and Ellen McLafferty, born May 30, 1960 in Bridgeport, CT. Bill was a retired Fire Medic Charlotte County. He was the President and Owner of McLafferty and Sons, Inc., Port Charlotte. During Hurricane Charlie he helped many families to rebuild their homes. He was a football coach for the Bandits and Port Charlotte High School. He was an avid Jet and Mets fan. Bill will be greatly missed by his wife of 35 years together, Maryanne; sons, Michael and Kevin (Megan); brothers, Robert (Sondy) and Joe (Sharnell); sister, Margaret (Ray) Ballou; special aunt, Martha Sharpe; grandchildren, Delaney and Trey William and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-dad, John Donnachie; nephew, Ian McClure and brother-in-law, Anthony Kopec. A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at noon, Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
