William "Bill" Vanderslice, 75, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at home. He was born April 9, 1937 in West Chester, PA to William and Winifred (Kell) Vanderslice. Upon graduation from Hanover High School, Hanover, PA Bill enlisted in the US Navy. Upon his discharge he then went on to earn his Bachelors degree, in Electrical Engineering, from Tri State (Trine) University in Angola, IN. He was the founder of Vanair Manufacturing, New Buffalo, MI, where he served as President/CEO until his retirement in 1996. Bill was active in the New Buffalo/Grand Beach area, serving as president of the Village of Grand Beach, a board member of Alliance Bank and president of New Buffalo Sports, Inc. In 1996 he moved to Port Charlotte, FL, where he served on the Riverwood CDD Board and President of Collingswood Pointe Homeowner's Association. Bill will be remembered for his love of flying, boating, water sports, golfing and especially for his passion of Christmas decorating, where he brought enjoyment to thousands, for his beautiful display each year. Bill will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 34 years, Carol; an amazing father to his children, Lindsey (Justin) Gay of Port Charlotte, FL, Tara (Chad) Harpley of Evans, GA, Todd (Dottina) Hudson of LaPorte, IN and Bryan (Mandy) Hudson of North Port, FL; niece, Alicia (Daniel) Pullen of Mandeville, LA; grandchildren, Rylan, Ava, Will, Brenna, Hadley, Lilly, Trent and Caleb; sister, Elizabeth (John) Bradley of Clifton, NY; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, George Vanderslice and sister, Susan Frock. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 5 to 7 pm at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
