William L. Lyons

d. October 20, 2017

Lyons, William "Bill" It is with great sadness that the family of Bill Lyons shares his unexpected passing. Bill hails from Grattan, Michigan and had shared endless stories and happy memories about the Grattan bait shop. He retired from Sound Tech in Grand Rapids before moving to Florida and summering in Six Lakes, Michigan. Bill loved his family and he loved his Lord. He was known to recite scripture after reading the complete bible - three times. "Sing to the LORD a new song; Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day" - Psalm 96:1-2 He was a proud member of the Ionia United Church of Christ, Bostwick Lake Congregational Church, Parish United Methodist Church choirs and went to meet Jesus just hours after his last choir practice at United Methodist Church, Punta Gorda, Florida. He is survived by his angel on earth and wife of 28 years, Beverly and siblings Steve, Stuart, Dean (Marlene), Susan and Doug (Debra) Geldersma and Laurie (Alan) Cwlkia. He will be missed by his two daughters Teresa Lyons and Cathy Lyons as well as four step-children Denise (Gary) Lowry, Bonnie (Clinton) Gregory, Bob (Pam) Fortin and Dawn (David) Fortin Mattoon. He was blessed and loved by grandchildren: Jennifer (Joe) Carter, Nichole (Jeff) Nelson, Adam (Lynn) Bruggeman, Amanda (Jeff) Kurth, Joshua Meyer, Andrew (Athena) Bruggeman, Lindsay Malone, Kathryn Meyer, Kyle Malone, Jordan (Sara) Meyer, Charles Schoenborn, Jeremy Schoenborn and Mason Lyons as well as twelve great-grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by his son Keith, mother Doris and father Jeff. A memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 507 W. Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Western Michigan University Grand Rapids Beltline location, 2333 E.
