William J. Mills

William J. Mills, 88, of Port Charlotte passed away August 12, 2006. He was born April 2, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY to John and Anna (Keenan) Mills. William served in the US Army during WWII. He worked for American Seal Cap and at Royal Palm Nursing Home in the maintenance department before retiring and moving from Long Island, NY in 1991. William was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and a former volunteer at St. Joe’s Hospital. He will be greatly missed by his sons John (Faye) Mills of Pt. Charlotte and Robert (Ellen) Mills of Spring Hill, FL; brothers Raymond of Spindale, NC and Donald (Genevieve) of Marco Island, FL; sister Catherine Brady of Newport Richey, FL; grandchildren John Arthur, Joseph, James, Joshua, Tracy and Allison; two great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 16 with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 am, Thursday, August 17 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Father Leo Riley officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 1144 Veronica Street, Pt. Charlotte, FL 33952. To express condolences to the family, please sign the online guest book.
