William H.”Jack” Browning, 79, of Punta Gorda passed away April 26, 2007. He was born September 30, 1927 to the late Robert and Essie Mae (Mc Callister) Browning. Jack served in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He retired from Wright Patterson AFB and was a dark room technician for the Daily Herald in Punta Gorda. Jack was a member of the Masons for 42 years. He played 1950's and rock music in area bands for many years. Jack loved to fish and cherished his family and dog Buster. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Denita (Kurt) Browning of Punta Gorda; son Darrell (Mary) Browning of Port Charlotte; brothers Lawrence Browning of Blairsville, GA, Donald Browning of Tampa, FL and Willard Mc Callister of Durham, NC; sisters Polly Browning of Tampa, FL, Mollie Kelly of Punta Gorda, FL, Doris Wells, Barbara Black, Punkin Leffingwell and Birdie Napier all of Huntington, WV; grandchildren Lee, Kyle, Jake and Haley Browning and Tiffany Ekiss; great-grandchildren Willow and Kylee Browning; special niece Kimmie Massengale of Knoxville, TN along with many other special nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his wife in 2002 Mary (Mack) Browning; parents; step-mother Pearl Arden Browning; brother Robert Lee Browning, Jr and sister Hattie Hopper. The family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Monday, April 30, 2007 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held in Huntington, WV at later date with inurnment to follow. To express condolences to the family, please sign the online condolence book.
