William Gregory Hagerty, Jr., a resident of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Carver, MA, passed away after a long illness on January 29, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife, Chrisann (White) Hagerty and his twin daughters Sheighlin and Meghan Hagerty. Greg was born March 23, 1954, to William and Priscilla (Brayton) Hagerty, both deceased. Greg is survived by his sisters Lauren McGerigle (Richard) of South Dennis, MA, Suzanne O’Brien (Kevin) of West Dennis, MA, Beverly Gaughan (Geoffrey) of Scituate, MA, and the late Kathryn Hagerty of Marshfield, MA. In addition, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Greg graduated from Braintree High School in 1972 and Northeastern University in Boston. He worked for many well-known companies, but his favorite job was being a loving husband and father to his adoring daughters Sheighlin and Meghan.
Greg’s dedication to his family was unending. After his father passed away at a young age, Greg took over his role as the head of the household and helped his mother to raise and take care of his younger sisters. Greg’s devotion to his wife Chrisann knew no boundaries, and the meaningful lyrics of Neil Diamond’s song, “The Story of my Life,” expressed his love for her. Greg’s daughters Sheighlin and Meghan were the lights of his life, and he made every effort even during his illness to attend all of their milestone events. To them, Dad was their “Hero.”
Greg was known as a car enthusiast. In his youth, you would often find him with his friends working on their sports cars in his backyard. He also enjoyed playing basketball and watching his favorite Boston teams on television.
Greg was loved by all who knew him because of his tremendous heart and soul and great sense of humor. He rarely complained even when he was in pain, and he greatly appreciated the outstanding care he received from his wife Chrisann and the dedicated healthcare workers who took care of him. Also, the love and kindness he received from his in-laws Bill and Barbara White and sister-in-law Jennifer Kettell meant the world to him. In honor of Greg’s memory and the love of his family, please extend an act of kindness towards others.
