William A. "Bill" Hyatt, 73, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Monday, March 17, 2014. He was the son of Caleb and Clara Hyatt, born April 23, 1940 in Stephentown, NY. Bill earned his Associate Degree in Applied Science in Civil Technology at State University of New York at Delhi. He served for five years as a US Navy Lt. as patrol plane commander. After discharge from the Navy, he then worked as a Captain for Seaboard World Airlines and Flying Tigers for 25 years. Bill was an active member of the United Methodist Church and supervised the church's Christmas tree charity fundraiser for many years. He was an avid boater, reader and member of the Emerald Pointe Yacht Club. Bill will be greatly missed by his wife of 32 years, Patricia; son, William Hyatt of Ft Lauderdale, FL; daughter, Suzanne Hyatt of Punta Gorda; brother, Caleb (Lisa) Hyatt of Westin, FL; sister, Melinda Hyatt of Orlando, FL; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, and sister, Sarah H. Reid. A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 11am, Saturday, March 22, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, 507 W. Marion Ave, Punta Gorda. Inurnment will be at Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association.
