Timothy W. Mitchell October 5, 1942 - June 22, 2017 Tim loved life, family and friends. Raised in Bonner Springs, Kansas, the oldest of Wilfred and Ella Mae Mitchell's five children, he graduated from Kansas State University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He loved anything K State and held season football and basketball tickets for many years. A Certified Public Accountant, Tim worked for what is now Price Waterhouse Coopers in St. Louis following his army tour. He was transferred to their Kansas City office and later became a partner in several firms in Wichita and Overland Park, Kansas, retiring from Kane Mitchell in 2011. He loved taking time visiting with clients, many becoming lifelong friends. A tireless volunteer he was a member of the Elks, Rotary Club, ( a Paul Harris Fellow), treasurer of Episcopal Social Service in Wichita, treasurer and Senior Warden at St. Andrew's Episcopal in Derby, Kansas and treasurer of many other "not for profit" organizations. From Cub Scout leader for his boys to serving on the Kansas State Board of Accountancy, Tim was willing to help any group that needed his expertise. He loved to travel throughout the United States and abroad. Italy and Ireland were two favorite places. Outdoor activities were another passion which included fly fishing, skiing, motorcycle riding, biking, camping, hiking, golf and flying his own plane. Following retirement to Florida, he enjoyed boating on the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway. Taking his sailboat, "First Light" and then his cabin cruiser "Teva Time" out on the Gulf to Key West while listening to "Jimmy Buffet" were among his many adventures. As his wife Linda always says, "Life with Tim was never dull!". Tim was known for his great sense of humor, living life to the fullest, being kind and compassionate, always reaching out to family and friends to love, guide and help. Family and friends loved him. He will be greatly missed. To go on without him, he leaves his wife of 51 years, Linda, son Ted, grandchildren Tessa and Zen, sisters Kathy Tisdale and Patricia Steele, brothers Jon and Paul Mitchell, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his oldest son Tim in 2014. Serving as volunteer treasurer, Tim was an integral member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Punta Gorda, Florida. Services were held there on June 27, 2017 followed by an Irish Wake to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Good Shepherd, 401 W. Henry Street, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. Burial will be with his son Tim in Colorado in the fall.
