This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it! Psalm 118, 24 KJV And so we rejoice in announcing the heavenly homecoming of Thomas James "Tom" Loomis on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at his home. Tom is now present with the Lord! He joins his beloved wife Anna M. Loomis, whom he absolutely adored. Tom was the son of the late Howard Lee and Edith Fetoni Loomis, born April 5, 1933 in Albany, NY. He served in the US Air Force, and retired from Corning, Inc. Tom loved the Lord and helping others. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda where he was active with Men of Faith and Habitat for Humanity. He leaves a lasting example of a man of faith, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Thomas will be greatly missed by his children, Pamela (Rob) Chandler Roe of San Jose, CA, Thomas J. (Cindy) Loomis, Jr. of Dallas, TX, Tari Loomis Trapenard of San Diego, CA, Richard English of Elmira, NY, David (Denise) Loomis of Turlock, CA, Paul (Ruth) English of Stanley, NC, and Annemieke (Dan) Loomis Hutchins of San Francisco, CA; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many extended family members; and his FUMC church family, whom he loved without end. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Corlew Loomis and wife of 44 years, Anna M. Loomis. So, it is with a triumphant joy that we announce the service celebrating Tom's life at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018 at First United Methodist Church Punta Gorda with Rev. Michael Loomis officiating. Tom and Anna will be buried together at a later date convenient to the family. Memorials may be made to FUMC, 507 W. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
