Thomas Berry Courtney

Thomas Berry Courtney, 84, of Punta Gorda passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center. He was born January 21, 1922 in Fairmont, West Virginia to Ralph Arlington and Barbara (Berry) Courtney. Tom attended Kentucky Military Institute of Frankfort, KY and Venice, FL then graduated from West Virginia University in 1943. He served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theater of Operations and was attached to the G2 section of Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Forces. In June of 1948 he married Patricia Nimblett of Fairmont, WV and raised two sons. Tom was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, Elks Club, VFW and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Pat; sons Berry (Jacquie) of Reno, NV and Bill (Stephanie) of Houston, TX and two grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his brother Ralph Arlington Courtney, Jr. A memorial mass will be at 11:00 am, Friday, April 28, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda.
