Thelma G. Stephenson, 92, of Port Charlotte, FL died December 27, 2005. She was born November 19, 1913 in Harnett, NC to the late George and Laura (Holmes) Hodges II. Thelma came to Port Charlotte from Ashtabula, OH in 1976. She was a homemaker, and was employed part-time at Sears for 13 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte and was part of the Victory Sunday School Class. Thelma’s love was taking care of people; she enjoyed cooking and often delivered her “Meals on Earle’s Wheels” to families who needed a good meal. She enjoyed gardening and was known for her beautiful roses; recently, she had taken up china painting. Thelma will be greatly missed by her husband Earle; daughters Etta Krispin of Port Charlotte, FL, Clara Hawley of Cleveland, OH, Sylvia Hamrick of Perry, OH, Glenda Brown of Novilty, OH and Judy Conley of Dayton, OH; step-daughter Jethred Gaskill of Great Falls, MT; 19 Grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Junior Byrd; grandson, Tom Phillips; 3 sisters, 4 brothers, and 2 half-brothers. The family will receive friends Saturday December 31, 2005 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte. The service in celebration of Thelma’s life will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. James Kibelbek officiating with burial at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
