Terrill Lee Nederveld

January 25, 1934 — December 31, 2010

Terrill "Terry" L. Nederveld, 76, of Florida and Michigan passed away December 31, 2010. He was born January 26, 1934 in Hudsonville, MI. to Fred and Clara (DeGroot) Nederveld. As a student at Hudsonville High School he fell in love with his sweetheart Ruth Schut. After graduating, the two were married and began life's grand adventure. Soon the family was started and within five years Terry was father to three children, Courtland, Valerie and Darwin. In 1960, while working for "American Box Board Corporation", Terrill accepted a designers position which moved the family from Michigan to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Joining the Highland Presbyterian Church they were welcomed by members who would become their life-long friends. Terry spent his free time with family, whether it was camping in New England, sledding the wintery hills of Pennsylvania or canoeing the Potomac River with his sons and the Boy Scouts. There was never a question that his love for family was strong and steadfast. As fate would have it, in 1973 his career with the now "Packaging Corporation of America" transferred the family back to his childhood home in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He could once again enjoy the camaraderie of his father Fred and brothers Wayne and Marion. Terrill loved the water. Making his second home on the shores of Lake Michigan. Whether it was the quiet solitude of the setting sun, the thunder of the "Off Shore Boat Races" or the wonderful "Lighthouse Point Friends", it was obvious Terry was a friend to Grand Haven In 1994, Terrill retired as Director of Marketing and New Product Development, a 40 year career accrediting him with 18 patents in the USA and Canada. He also was a graduate of the Chicago Technical College and served on the Board of Directors at the Michigan State School of Packaging. Moving to Punta Gorda, Florida in 1995 he served as an Elder and Deacon of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church. Terrill also enjoyed memberships in the Elks Lodge #2606, Saladin Temple Shrine, F & A Masons and Charlotte County Wood Carvers. His continuing love of creativity produced award winning life-like woodcarvings of many Florida waterfowl and sea creatures. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Ruth; children, Courtland (Peggy) Nederveld, Valerie (Raymond) Heisey and Darwin (Peggy Lee) Nederveld; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In our hearts we know that we have not lost him... he is only waiting for us...
