Ted J. Silva

Ted J. Silva, 58, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013. He was the son of Kenneth and Isabelle (nee Cohen) Silverman, born January 13, 1955 in Far Rockaway, New York. In 1974 Ted married Cindy Silverman and they had three children. He got remarried in 1993 to Ann Dilione Silva and they also had three children. Ted spent more than a decade as the Supervisor of the X-ray Technicians at Mercy Hospital in Miami. His proudest achievement, however, was graduating from the Police Academy with his son, Kenny, and working for the Lake Placid Police Department as a Police Officer. He truly loved the Explorer program and his Explorers. He spent many years dedicating his time and talent to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office as the Explorer Advisor. He enjoyed cars of all kinds, watching NASCAR and building models and his Labrador Retrievers. Ted's family will remember how he greatly enjoyed hunting, shooting, gunsmithing, making knives and adding to his prized gun collection. Ted was a proud , husband, father and grandfather, son and father-in-law. Ted will be remembered for his hilariously funny, brilliantly intelligent, and truly committed to hobbies, work, and people he loved the most. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by wife Ann and former wife Cindy; children, Phil (Elizabeth) Quigley, Nicole (Guillermo) Gonzalez, Danielle Silverman, Kimberly (Edward) Rodriguez, Kenneth (Chance) Silva, Kristina (Russell Thibodeau) Silva, Suzanne Silva; grandchildren, Karina and Joseph Gonzalez, Sofia Rodriguez, Alexander Thibodeau, Ashley, Ryan and Lexis Quigley. The family will receive friends 3-6 pm, Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. A funeral mass will be held at 11:30am, Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Punta Gorda.
