Sylvester J. Battisti

Sylvester "Sy" Joseph Battisti, 87, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Consulate Health Care in Port Charlotte. He was born July 15, 1923 in Greensburg, PA to Antonio and Teresa (Colonna) Battisti. He proudly served his country in WWII and was a Bronze Star recipient. He worked as an engineer for Ford Motor Co until he retired in 1979 and moved to Florida. Sy was a blessing to so many and was quick with a smile and a story. He will be dearly missed by all of his friends and Bob Evan's family where he enjoyed 2 of his 3 meals everyday. Sy will be greatly missed by his brothers, Charles (Chris) Battisti and Dr. Eugene Battist (and family); nephew, Charles A. Battisti; niece, Elizabeth Leitman; great nieces, Beth Leitman and Heather Kramer; great-great nieces, Meghan and Morgan Kramer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna; son, Robert Battisti; parents and sister, Mary Wassil. Private arrangements have been made. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations in his memory to Tidewell Hospice, Inc. 1144 Veronica Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
