Shirley Sue Whitis

Shirley Sue Merritt Whitis passed away on September 25, 2024, at home with her family at the age of 90. She was born in Point Pleasant, MO on September 20, 1934. 

Shirley Sue was married to the love of her life, William Whitis, for 68 years. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Helen Merritt of IN. 

She was preceded in death by her brother Lawrence Merritt of IN. 

Shirley is survived by her sister Patricia Hunt (Robert) of IN, Thomas Merritt (Jo) of MD, and Eldonna Merritt of IN. Her daughters Beth Arnold (Randy) of IN, Brenda Jarvis (Ronald) of NC, Beverly Hertenberger (Rick) of GA, and stepson Russell Whitis (Suzi) of IN, along with multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
