Shirley Wedge Bari, 84, of Port Charlotte passed away September 24, 2006 quietly at her home. She was born July 15, 1922 in Kerhonksen, New York. Shirley moved to Port Charlotte from Lakeside, Connecticut in 1986. She was a graduate from the University of Vermont with a masters degree in education. Later she attended the Fashion Academy in New York where she worked in the garment district as a fashion designer. While living in Connecticut, she taught home economics and art at both Wamogo and Litchfield High Schools. After retiring from the school system she worked at Colonial Bank in Waterbury. In Florida, she spent much of her time volunteering at the Port Charlotte Public Library. Throughout her life, she maintained her passion for painting and fashion design. She will be missed by her husband Dominick; sons Don F. Bari of Norwalk, CT and Robert Bari of Long Island, NY; daughters Sandra Melillo of Port Charlotte and Gayle Munyon of Sarasota; grandchildren Michel and Shawn Melillo, Kimberly and Jeffery Bair, Robin Sanchez and Robert Bari; great-granchildren Amanda and Michael S. Melillo. Shirley was preceded in death by her son Frankie and grandson Michael J. Melillo. A graveside service will be at 10:00 am, Monday, October 9 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.
