Shirley M. Snow McKenney, 80, of Punta Gorda passed away January 8, 2012. She was the daughter of Phillip W. and Vera (White) Snow, born October 14, 1931 in Old Town, ME. Shirley enjoyed being active in her community and was a hospital volunteer in Lewisburg, PA; was a soloist with the Daughters of Isabella; and was a pageant coach for Miss Maine for the Miss America Organization. She moved to Punta Gorda in 1992; she was a member of the Punta Gorda Isles Yacht Club and enjoyed playing bridge there. Shirley loved dogs, especially her "grand dogs." Shirley will be best remembered as a homemaker whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. She dated Jaye A. McKenney for 5 years before they wed; they were married for 59 years. Shirley will be greatly missed by her husband, Jaye; daughters, Mary McKenney Briggs, and Cheryl McKenney; sons, Tim (Lynne) McKenney and Andy (Tammy) McKenney; grandchildren, Kristen, Ashlynde, Scott, and Heather; and brother, Ralph "Buzzy"(Joan) Snow and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 3:00 to 4:00 pm Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with the service in celebration of Shirley's life beginning at 4:00 pm. A visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Birmingham Funeral Home in Old Town, ME with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 am at Holy Family Church.
