Scott Herold, age 60, passed away on December 10 in Punta Gorda, Florida. Scott was born February 23, 1957 in Morristown, New Jersey to Richard and Eda Herold. Scott is deeply missed by his wife Valerie, sister Patty, brother Marc, many friends and family. Scotts hero in life was his father, and like his father Scott was a man of principle, a man of character, a man of his word. You could count on him to do exactly what he told you he would do. You knew there was a presence in the room when Scott came in. Scott could talk with anyone and about most any topic; he was smart, witty and gregarious but didnt really like people in general; in fact Scott preferred all animals to people and the reason being animals are always honest. Scott loved to be on and around the water, especially on his sailboat Drifter. From his youngest sailing days on Pilgrim Lake at Cape Cod Massachusetts, to day sails at Lake Calhoun, Lake Waconia, Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, and the BVIs where it is always warm. In recent years, Scotts favorite place to sail was Punta Gorda, Florida. Scott loved, and truly needed the warm weather, the sunshine, the water and the sand between his toes and of course, the sailing. He was always making improvements on Drifter, and it was the home he loved best. You were a good man McGee and you are deeply missed. A memorial service for Scott will be scheduled at a later date.
