Russell P. Myers, 94, of Port Charlotte passed away March 4, 2018. He was born November 1, 1923 in Warren, OH. Russell served in the US Navy, and was an engineer for GM for 37 years. He earned the Boy Scouts Silver Beaver Award, and was a member of Carroll F. Clapp Masonic Lodge #655. Russell came to Port Charlotte in 1992 and resided at South Port Square for 14 years. In his younger years he enjoyed making loomed rugs and was affectionately referred to as "Fruit of the Loom." He also enjoyed leatherwork. He will be greatly missed by his son, Rick (Jeanne) Myers; granddaughter, Nicole, sister, Mary Parks; William (Linda) Kamarek and Kathy (Bruce) Reynolds and their children and grandchildren. Russell was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Ruth K. Myers, second wife of 14 years, Gail K. Myers, and son, Thomas Craig Myers. The service in celebration of Russell's life will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2018 at South Port Square. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals.
