Russell Emerson June, 79, of Punta Gorda passed away April 27, 2006. He was born January 7, 1927 in Jersey City, NJ to Arthur and Gretchen (Johnson) June. Russell was employed in the family business Prospect Sash & Door while growing up. He served in the US Navy during WWII as a Signalman and graduated from New York University. Russell worked on Wall Street after graduation then joined Shell Oil Company in Finance, Treasury and Controller positions in NYC, Geismar, Louisiana and Houston, TX for 34 years. He served as Treasurer of Burnt Store Country Club, Admiral of the Burnt Store Isles Boat Club and board member of Burnt Store Isles Association & Canal Maintenance Committee. He was (SCORE) Service Corp of Retired Executives and Lifetime Mason in Nutley, N.J. Lodge, member of Twin Isles Country Club and Tin Can Sailors and Punta Gorda Police Retirement Association. He will be greatly missed by his wife Inger Ford June; daughter Beverley June (Philip) Reynolds of Bath, Maine; son David Russell June; granddaughter Stephanie June of Houston, TX; brother Richard June of Santa Barbara, CA; step-daughter Lauren Gully and her family of Los Angeles, CA. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 53 years, Virginia Docen. A celebration of Russell’s life will be at 2:00 pm, April 29, 2006 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
