Russell E. Fewster

September 30, 1946 — September 23, 2019

Russ, Russell Edward Fewster, passed away surrounded in love on September 23, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. “Eddie” as he was known to everyone in Maryland, was born at the US Naval Hospital, San Diego, CA where his dad, George Edward Fewster was stationed. Shortly thereafter, his father and mother, Estella, returned to the Baltimore, Maryland area where Russ grew up with his younger brother, Raymond and cherished sister, Peggy, eating crabs, playing baseball, serving newspapers, and developing his love of automobiles. He served in the US Navy and was a proud citizen of the United States. In his early years, he worked at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD, had a “chuckwagon”, and worked for car dealerships.

In his first marriage, he was blessed with two sons, Michael Edward and Gregory Fewster and a beautiful granddaughter, Makayla. He was so proud of all of them for good reason.
He moved to Sarasota, Florida in the ’80s to escape the cold weather and find the sun, and began to work at Bay Pines VA Hospital in nursing. There he met and stole the heart of Michele, whom he married 11 years ago, and moved to Seminole, Florida. They retired to Punta Gorda and became members of 1st United Methodist Church. Before his passing, Russ accepted Jesus as his savior, and now is in heaven with his mom, dad, and brother. His beloved sister, Peggy Dunn and brother-in-law Bradford Dunn; wife, Michele Fewster; son, Michael Edward Fewster and daughter-in-law Maria Fewster and son Gregory Fewster and Granddaughter, Makayla will miss him on earth.

Russ had a soft spot for animals, he was often found feeding the birds of the fields out of his hand, the refrigerator always had two large bags of peanuts and sunflower seeds for this purpose. Harvey, his Lhasapoo, will continue to mourn his absence.
Russ frequented local car shows where his passion for Corvettes and American Muscle cars was apparent. He was also known for his quick wit and love of doo-wop. He was a Founding Member of the National Corvette Museum, a member of Harbor Corvettes as well as Klassics, Antiques and Rods.

Russ’ favorite charities were St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, ASPCA, and Disabled American Veterans.
