Ronald A. Phenix, 73, of Port Charlotte passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 after a recent diagnosis of cancer. He was the son of Joseph and Antoinette Phenix, born December 20, 1944 in Hartford, CT. He attended St. Annes, Bulkeley High School and A. I. Prince Tech. Ron joined the Connecticut National Guard and served with the 103rd Fighter Group at Bradley International Airport, retiring after 30 plus years as a Technical Sargent in 1996. He was proud to have worked on the A10, known as the Warthog. Ron and his wife, Joan, moved to Florida 12 years ago; Ron embraced his new community. Ron will be greatly missed by his wife of 44 years, Joan; sister, Jeannine Rannou; brother, P. Norman (Joanne) Phenix; sister-in-law, Margaret Cochrane; nieces and nephews; his girlfriend, Kasey, who was always by his side; and numerous friends in Connecticut and Florida. A celebration of Rons life will be held 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Heritage Oak Park. Ron will be buried at Sarasota National Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2018. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
