Roger Walter Brown, 70, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away March 20, 2008 at his home. He was born March 19, 1938 in Plattsburgh, New York. Roger received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1959 at Miami University of Ohio. He worked 10 years for Cadillac Motor Company in accounting and for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for 25 years as Senior Auditor and Manager in the Provider Audit Department. He led an extremely active lifestyle having run track and cross country in high school and holding a co-captain role, ran varsity in college where he continued running most of his life. Roger loved the water and enjoyed boating, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, playing softball and card games with friends. Roger was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brighton, MI and was very active with the choir, church socials and managing the church softball team for 28 years. He retired to Punta Gorda in 1999 and continued to stay active in running, playing softball, golf, avid tennis player, traveling and social activities with friends at Seminole Lakes Country Club. Roger was a member of First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda. He was known for his hard work ethic, dedication and loyalty to family and friends and motivation, leadership roles, an active lifestyle and never leaving a job undone. Roger will be remembered as a devoted family man where family always came first . He supported all of his children and grandchildren in their activities and was very dedicated to bringing his family together through gatherings and vacations. Roger will be greatly missed by his wife, Liz Brown; sons, Roger Brown of Ypsilanti, MI, John (Linda) Brown of Apopka, FL and Tom (Veronica) Oliver of New Orleans, LA; daughters, Susan Brown of South Lyon, MI, Laura (Rafael) Delgado of Ypsilanti, MI; and Tara (Patrick) Sellers of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Emory, Rese, Xavier, Thomas, August, Ryan, Jessica and Kayle; brother-in-law; Jim Frost and sister in law, Millie Gillies. A celebration of Roger's life will be 11:00 a.m on Monday, March 24, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda.
