Roger F. Wurster, 73, of North Port, FL, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2006, at his residence. He was born April 13, 1933, in Buffalo, NY, to Daniel and Emma (John) Wurster. Roger served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, operating heavy equipment and building airfields in France. He was employed at Bethlehem Steel, Lackawanna, NY for 28 years and then retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, NY, as an instrumentation engineer in the boiler department, in 1995. Roger moved to Leesburg, FL in 1996 and re-located to North Port in 2002, in the LaCasa Community. He loved fishing, camping, boating, mechanical and woodworking hobbies.. Roger valued his family and, friends, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Roger will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 31 years, Patricia M. of North Port; son, David R. (Carla) of Rochester, NY; step-daughters Teresa A. (Glenn) Schmidt of Hamburg, NY, and Lori A. (William) Utter of West Seneca, NY; brother, James D. (Kathleen) Wurster of Liverpool, NY; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be at 10:30am, Thursday, November 2, 2006, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4285 Wesley Lane, North Port, FL. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 1144 Veronica Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
