Robert Schiemer

Robert "Bob" Schiemer, 89, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Columbia, IL passed away Jan. 4, 2018. He was born Jan. 15, 1928 in Columbia, IL to Charles and Ella Schiemer. Bob graduated Dupo H.S. and excelled in basketball and baseball. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Bob was co-owner of Schiemer Insurance Company in Columbia and retired in 1982. Bob was a member of Columbia American Legion Post 581, Rotary and the Twin Isles Country Club in Punta Gorda, FL. He enjoyed golfing, travelling and his daily martini! Bob will be greatly missed by his step-son, Joseph (Margaret) Bina of Charleston, SC; step-daughter, Lynn (Andy) Reeves of Okahumpka, FL; grandchildren, Molly Bina, Katie Aukerman, Lisa (Eric) Beard and Matt (Jessica) Aukerman; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces, June Campos, Donna Bequette and Diann Kunze; nephews, Mark, Edward, Daniel, Matthew, David and Ernie Kopp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Schiemer; parents; brothers, Carl and Louis and sister, Mary Ann.
