Robert Lee Davis 8/22/1928 - 3/25/2009 Bob grew up in Texas City, TX, started a family and completed a successful career as a machinist at the Union Carbide Chemical plant. Along the way he developed a passion for all boating activities and made countless lifelong friendships. After retiring he relocated to Punta Gorda, Florida where he was an active member of the Windmill Village community serving as past president of the Woodworking and Boat clubs and served on the Board of Directors. Bob was an avid sailor, kayaker, world traveler and consummate story teller. He touched and influenced many lives with his positive and friendly nature, helpful attitude, and was always willing to lend a hand. On March 25, 2009 he sailed away to blue skies, sunny shores and calm waters with a gentle breeze at his back. He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Sue Davis, brother Kenneth and wife Alice Joy Davis. He is survived by his loving wife Yvonne, seven children: Steven Davis, Janet Davis, Deborah Cassady, Rhonda Phelps, Dale Cassady, Vernona "Nonie" Hall and Robert Derrick, grandchildren and great grand children. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on April 27, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, 507 W. Marion, Punta Gorda, Florida. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be directed to the American Stroke Association, a Division of the American Heart Association for stroke research in memory of Robert L. Davis at, American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or Windmill Boat Club, 215 Rio Villa Drive, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
