Robert Harold Henry

Robert H."Bob" Henry, 81, of Punta Gorda passed peacefully at home on December 16, 2010. He was born October 14, 1929 in Campbell, Ohio to Harold and Velma (Burkey) Henry. Bob grew up in Indiana and was part owner in the family business Henry Company Wholesale & Retail Vacuum Cleaner Sales and Service before relocating family to Punta Gorda. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. As a family man, he enjoyed many years of traveling and camping with his family throughout the United States while working and developing the whole sale division of the Henry Company. He was founder and past owner of the Vacuum Cleaner Clinic in Punta Gorda. Bob was a partner/licensed real estate broker in Henry Realty and Corner Collectibles before retiring. He was a past president and member of Punta Gorda Kiwanis Club and Punta Gorda Historical Society. Bob was a secretary of the Exchange Club Center for Prevention of Child Abuse/Bill Riley Center and a member of YMCA Indian Guide Leader in Indiana. Bob will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Norma Lee; sons, Van (Valerie) Allan Henry of Port Charlotte and Val Duane Henry of Sebring; daughter, Mona Lea Henry and Gary Lytle of Punta Gorda; brothers, Donald (Marlene) Henry and Richard Henry; grandchildren, Eric Henry of Port Charlotte, Kara Henry of Tampa, Alicia Henry of Gainesville Laci Zawilinski of Boone, NC and Brent Zawilinski of Fort Myers and Robert Harold Henry II of Sebring, nieces, nephews and his granddog, Karma Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Paul. A service in celebration of Bob's life will be at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. Inurnment will be at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Peace River Church of Christ, 2623 Vasco Street, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
