Robert Dale Benson

Robert Dale Benson, 72, of Port Charlotte passed away June 4, 2007. He was born January 2, 1935 in Rector, Ark to Robert Newton and Lena (Reagan) Benson. Robb served in the Air Force. He worked as a plant manager with Thompson Industries before retiring and moving from Phillipsburg, NJ in 1988. He was a member of Suncoast Baptist Church. Robb was an avid sports fan, golfer and enjoyed the outdoors. Above all he will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Robb was a humble man that never lost that simplicity for life. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Barbara, daughters Carol (Eric) Anderson of Port Charlotte and Laurie (Roy) Corby of North Port, FL; sons Donald (Melanie) of Garner, NC, David (Stephanie) of Phillipsburg, NJ, Miles (Wendi) of Easton, PA, Michael (Kerry) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jacob (Adrianne) of Port Charlotte, FL; brothers Tony Benson of Oconomowoc, Wisc, Terry Benson of Rogers, Ark and Randy Benson of Doniphan, MO; sisters Retta Burke of Cabool, MO and Rhonda Morris of Lakeview, Ark. and 17 grandchildren. The family will receive friends 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. A celebration of Robb’s life will be 10:00 a.m, Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Suncoast Baptist Church with Rev. Keller officiating. Burial will be at St. Rose DeLima Cemetery in Chicopee, MA.
