Robert D. Burns

Robert D. Burns, 84, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away on February 21, 2021. He was born on September 4, 1936, to Roy and Ora Burns in Saline County, IL.  Robert moved to Port Charlotte in May of 1998 from Washington, IL.  He retired from the State Police of Illinois in 1986 after several years of dedicated and honorable service.

Robert will be deeply missed by his daughters Sandra Backes and Susan (Kent) Riley; son Scott (Kathy) Burns; brother Steve Burns; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Beverly, one son Russell Burns and grandson Robert Burns.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future date in Harrisburg, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Taps Animal Shelter in Pekin, IL.
