Richard E. Clemm, 79 of Punta Gorda, Fl passed away Monday February 13, 2017 at home with family by his side. He was born June 29, 1937 in Harrisburg, Pa to Richard and Hallie (nee Jacoby) Clemm. Richard graduated from Camp Hill High School and attended Carnegie Institute of Technology (Carnegie Mellon), graduating with a degree in Graphic Arts. He retired as vice president of operations from the Kruysman Corporation in New York City. Richard served in the U.S. Army Reserves, being activated during the Berlin Crisis. Richard's faith was very important to him. He was an ordained deacon and elder in the Presbyterian Church, having served in both capacities at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield, NJ and the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda, Fl. Richard loved sailing and spent 10 years sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. In Baltimore he was active in the Bush River Yacht Club and Bush River Sail and Power Squadron. Upon moving to New Jersey, Richard joined the Watchung Sail and Power Squadron and was elected as Treasurer of the organization. In 2001 Richard and his wife Nancy retired to Punta Gorda where he became active in the Peace River Sail and Power Squadron. He served both Peace River and District 22 organizations as Treasurer. He is a life member of the United States Power Squadrons, having obtained 34 merit marks. Richard worked for Ace Hardware downtown Punta Gorda for approximately for 10 years. He and his wife Nancy loved to travel and have visited many states, countries and have cruised to many islands. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy; sons, Michael (Angela) and Jeffery (Kymberly); granddaughters, Paige and Victoria all of Delaware; brother and Sister-in-law, Robert and Sandra of Camp Hill, Pa; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and many relatives and friends who loved him and will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ruth Pierce. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 11:00 at the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, Burnt Store Road, Punta Gorda. Memorial donations may be made to the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church.
