Raymond R. Burkhardt

Raymond Russell Burkhardt, 71, of Port Charlotte passed away January 29, 2006. He was born July 7, 1934 in Marion County, Indiana to Glen and Louella (Taylor) Burkhardt. Ray served in the US Air Force. He was a supervisor for the United States Postal Service in Indiana for 36 years before retiring in 1987. He came to Port Charlotte from Indiana in 1989 and was a member of American Legion Post 110. Ray will be greatly missed by his wife, Margaret Ann; daughers, Angelia (James) Messina of Ponte Vedra, FL and Caron Burkhardt of Lutz, FL; son, Raymond Scott (Rhonda) of Indianapolis, IN; brothers, Glen (Betty) Burkhardt of Avon, IN, Allen (Linda) Burkhardt of Muncie, IN, and Darrell (Jackie) Burkhardt of Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service in celebration of Ray’s life will be from 4:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, February 5 at the Port Charlotte Beach Pavilion. The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Legion Post 110 Building Fund, 3152 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
