Ralph R. Mazza, Jr., 91, of Port Charlotte passed away Wed. September 19, 2012. He was the son of Gertrude (Rahm) and Ralph Mazza, Sr., born on September 13, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York. Ralph attended James Madison High School and served in the Coast Guard as a Machinist Mate 2nd class during WWII then graduated from Pratt Inst, Brooklyn 1955. Ralph worked as a Designing Engineer for American Machine and Foundry (AMF) for 42 years. He retired in 1983 and moved from Wallingford, CT to Port Charlotte. He was a member of Port Charlotte Garden Club for 24 years, Coast Guard Auxiliary for 27 years, Holy Trinity Mens Club. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Charlotte, served as Church Councilmen. Ralph was a Boy Scout Master, Wallingford, CT and at St. James Lutheran Church served as Sunday School Superintendent and Director of Luther League, Brooklyn, NY. Ralph will be greatly missed by his wife of 69 years, Lorraine (Schlytter); daughters, Dale Hahn (John) and LeeAnn Ferriola (Robert); sons, Ralph Mazza (Jacquelyne) and James Mazza (Patricia); sister, Gertrude Hendry (Andrew) eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 3:00 pm, Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Charlotte.
