Philip R. North

Philip R. North, 83, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014. He was the son of Carl and Edith (nee Slayton) North, born on June 15, 1930 in Yates City, IL. Philip served in the US Navy and then worked for Gales Products in Galesburg for over 20 years before retiring. He moved from Yates City, IL to this area in 1997 and was a member of the American Legion. Philip will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Philip will be greatly missed by his daughter, Catherine (Steve Leek) North; sons, Richard Cowden and Jesse Cowden; sister, Louise Anderson; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Ethel North; daughter, Susan Hogue, sister, Dorothy Jones and brother, Charles North. The family will receive friends 10 to 11am, Wednesday, April 2, 2014 with a service to celebrate Philip's life to follow at 11am at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
