Philip R. Merrill

Philip R. Merrill, 89, of Punta Gorda, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware and Kennebunk, Maine passed away September 15, 2015. He was the son of Austin and Ethel Merrill, born October 24, 1925 in Elkins, West Virginia. Philip served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was an enthusiastic member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and attended Burnt Store Presbyterian Church. Philip loved sailing and fostering leadership in others. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 64 years, Marty; daughter, Julee and John Csuri; son, Chuck and Pam; granddaughters, Merrill, Kay and Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David. A gathering of family and friends will be held 10 to 12pm, Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
