Pearline Louise Smith

Pearline L. Smith, 78, of Port Charlotte passed away June 9, 2006. She was the daughter of John and Evelyn (Davis) Brown, born January 11, 1928 in Jamaica, West Indies. She married George Smith in 1952. She migrated to the United States in the late 1960's and was followed later by the rest of the family. She spent over 30 years in New York City where she worked as an encoder operator at Bankers Trust, then as a home health aide at United Cerebral Palsy. In 1994, Pearline and her husband moved to Port Charlotte after retiring. She joined Shiloh Apostolic Temple where she was instrumental in fund-raising for a new church building. She loved the Lord and her passion was the Day Care Center operated by the church. Pearline will be greatly missed by her husband, George Smith Sr., daughter Elaine (Cornel) Campbell, son, George (Maxine) Smith, Jr.; grandchildren, Dianne, Jason, Ryan, Karsten, Dominic, And Rochelle; her sisters and brothers, and numerous other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, June 16 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services Punta Gorda Chapel . The service in celebration of Pearline’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17 at Shiloh Temple in North Port. Memorial donations may be made to Shiloh Apostolic Temple, 1050 Atwater Drive, North Port, FL 34286. To express condolences to the family, please sign the online guest book.
