Patricia Barringer

September 14, 1924 — March 31, 2007

Patricia Alice “Pat” Barringer, 82, of Port Charlotte passed away on March 31, 2007. She started her life journey in New Carlisle, Ohio on September 14, 1924. Pat attended Ohio State University. In the 1940s, she held a national Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) swimming record. Between 1947 and 1951, Pat traveled the US and Canada extensively with the All American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL), subject of the 1992 movie “A League of Their Own.” She played second base for the Muskegon Lassies, and later acted as manager and chaperone for the Chicago Colleens. One memorable experience was an exhibition game at Yankee stadium. Following her baseball years, Pat found a home on West Lake in Portage, Michigan. Family, friends, and neighbors shared wonderful days at the lake with fish fry picnics, swimming, water skiing, snowmobiling, and bowling. Pat was an auditor and tax accountant for thirty years. She moved to Port Charlotte, Florida in the late 1980s, enjoying partial retirement. Pat was a beloved sister and aunt who loved roses, traveling, and her many friends. Pat will be greatly missed by brother Mac Barringer, niece Cheralyn Beaudry and nephew Craig Barringer. No services are planned at this time.
