Norman L. Whipple

Norman L. Whipple, 78, of Punta Gorda passed away Monday, March 28, 2011. He was born July 4, 1932 in Painesville, OH to Carl and Alda (Briggs) Whipple. Norman was a veteran of the Korean War with 187 Rakkasans ARCT. He moved to Punta Gorda from Madison, Ohio in 1991. Norman was a member of First United Methodist Church, Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte Paratrooper Club. He enjoyed sailing, fishing, woodworking and spending time with family. Norman will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Ann; son, Mark (Melissa) Whipple; daughters, Gloria Whipple and Marje Lang and Gail (Michael) Penzenik; brother, Jim Whipple; sister, Phyllis Peters; grandchildren, Adam (Kelly) Penzenik, Abby (Jason) March, Angela (Ed) Avalos, Mark Jr and Matt Whipple; great-grandchildren, Emily, Joseph, Aidan and Anna Avalos and Olivia Penzenik. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Melanie Lyons; sister, Margaret Lenniger; brother, Corky Whipple. A memorial service in celebration of Norman's life will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
