Neal “David” Blankenship, 60, of North Port passed away August 31, 2006. He was born July 27, 1946 in Verdunville, WV to Neal Delbert and Ula (Stone) Blankenship. David served his country in the Air Force. He was a manager for POD Storage, and enjoyed taking cruises in the Caribbean, especially the Eastern Caribbean. He also loved to fish and watch NASCAR races and was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt and Dale, Jr. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. David will be greatly missed by his wife of 10 years, Doris; daughters, Rebekah Blankenship and Sarah Bennett, both of College Station, TX; son, John David Blankenship of Greensburg, PA; step-sons, Wayne Disbrow of North Port, Bryan Disbrow of Sarasota, and Jason Mabie of Hot Springs, AR; sister, Sherry Rose (Eugene) Miraldi of Arcadia; aunt Una Napier of Arcadia; and 8 grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 7:00 pm Friday, September 8, 2006 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with the service in celebration of David’s life beginning at 7:00. Memorial donations may be made to All Children’s Hospital Foundation, Diabetic Research, P O BOX 3142, St. Petersburg, FL 33731-3142.
