Nan A. Murphy, 77, of Punta Gorda passed away June1, 2006 after a long battle with cancer. She was born December 26, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA to Thomas and Anna (Anderson) Reid. Nan moved from Philadelphia in 1957 to Miami and in 1981 to Atlanta, GA then to Sunrise, FL, Pensacola and to Punta Gorda in 2002. Nan was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer with Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola along with a supporter of Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches. She will be missed by her daughters Mary Ann Blackman of Punta Gorda and Kathleen Rushnak of Tampa; sons Michael Fitzgerald of Plantation, FL and Thomas Murphy of Sunrise, FL; grandchildren Kelly Columbus, Christine Haupt, Jonathan Rushnak, Michelle Cruz, Anthony and Michael Fitzgerald; eight great-grandchildren and numerous extended family. A memorial service in celebration of Nan’s life will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 10 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
