Mike Olivares

Mike Olivares, 79, of North Port, FL passed away July 4, 2009. He was the son of Ismael and Juana (Reyes) Olivares, born April 7, 1930 in Brownsville, TX. Mike served in the Marines for 3 years then served in the USAF as a Staff Sergeant for 20 years, which he traveled all over the world before retiring. He was a fireman in the Civil Service at McClellan Air Force Base for 15 years, and moved to North Port in 2001. Mike was a lifetime member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed working with his hands in the garden and woodcarving. Mike will be greatly missed by his wife of 19 years, Barbara; daughters, June (Jeff) Hardcastle of Tracy, CA and Leonor (Wayne) Willis of Carmichael, CA; son, Miguel (Connie) Olivares of Carmichael, CA and Danny Olivares of Citrus Heights, CA; brother, Ruben of Essex, VT; sisters Leonor Olivares and Maria Elena Olivares both of Brownsville, TX; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be 3:00 to 4:00 pm, Friday, July 10, 2009 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 pm.
