Michael J. Peters

Michael J. Peters, 56, of Port Charlotte, and formerly of Shrewsbury, VT, passed away January 10, 2006. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Before his retirement in 1999, Michael was clinical director of Recovery House, Inc. in Wallingford, VT. He was also a free-lance writer and photographer, and wrote for many Rutland area publications, including his favorite, the Mountain Times. He will be remembered as a beloved husband and devoted father, brother, and friend. Michael will be greatly missed by his wife, Renee; daughter, Maguire Bess; brothers, Joseph Dowgos of Fla., Albert Dowgos of Maine, Robert Dowgos of Mass., George of Mass., and Mitchell of Fla., and Jeffrey of New Hampshire; sisters, Linda Fitzgerald, Patricia Sevier, and Susan Smith, all of Mass., and Marianne Hodgdon of Mass. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 29 at 3:00 pm at Ponce de Leon Park in Punta Gorda.
