Mary Rose Shipley

Mary Rose Shipley, 104, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away February 13, 2017. She was the daughter of John and Mary Vrana, born May 16, 1912 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. On October 1913, her family arrived in the United States aboard the ship, "Princess". She worked as an Interior Decorator for several years then worked for a pocketbook factory after getting married. She was a very active member of Edgewater United Methodist Church including the Friday Friends Small Group and the Monday Morning Sewing Group. She loved working in her garden, knitting, crocheting, needlework and reading. Mary will be greatly missed by her daughter, Ethel (George) Kretschman; daughter-in-law, Pat; sister, Berdie; sister in law, Helen; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Donald; brothers, John, Willie, Teddy and Richy; sister, Jarmila; granddaughters, Karyn and Kathy and great-grandson, Tylor; great-great-grandchildren, Makayla and Harper. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 2pm, Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Edgewater United Methodist Church.
