Mary Jane Aynes

June 29, 1935 — October 15, 2021

Mary Jane Aynes, 86, of Port Charlotte, Florida went home to be with the Lord on October 15, 2021.

She was born in Columbus, Indiana on June 29, 1935, daughter of the late Lowell V. Ogle and late Mary E. Wendel Ogle.

Mary Jane graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus, Indiana in 1953. After that, she attended the University of Cincinnati where she studied Interior Design.  Mary Jane did not earn a degree in this field, but she put what she learned, into decorating any space she could in the most memorable way.

Mary Jane was a stay-at-home mom for many years caring for her sons, Robert and Steve.  When the boys got older, she joined them at Nashville Elementary School. At first, she volunteered for many years, then became a Reading Assistant. Mary Jane shared her love of learning with the students of Nashville Elementary for over two decades until she retired in 1997.

Since her parents retired to Port Charlotte in 1977, Mary Jane knew that she wanted to live surrounded by the sunshine and palm trees of Florida. Her dream came true, when she, her husband Charlie, and son Steve moved from Nashville, Indiana to Florida in 1998.

Mary Jane loved spending time with friends, family, and neighbors with whom she could talk to for hours.   She had many interests and hobbies.  As a member of The Cultural Center of Charlotte County, she played Euchre, Pinochle, Bridge, and Bingo.  She enjoyed traveling, painting, gardening, cooking, baking, trying out new recipes, shopping at Wal-Mart, going to garage sales and so much more. She rarely sat still.

She will be missed by her loving husband Charles Aynes of Port Charlotte, Florida;  son Stephen (Virginia) Aynes of Rotonda West, Florida;  daughter-in-law  Kim Aynes of Indianapolis, Indiana;  grandchildren  Angelique Aynes and Rolando Chavez of Indianapolis, Indiana; her niece, nephew, and four great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Robert Aynes, and brother Stephen Ogle.
