Mary Catherine Shelton

Mary Catherine Shelton, 73, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 after a long and courageous fight. She was born November 13, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to Charles and Margaret (Huggins) Petterson. Mary was a graduate of The Redemptorist High School of Kansas City , MO. Mary was the Co-owner of C.R. Gun Specialty Inc, of Kansas City, MO. She and her husband moved from Lenexa, KS to Punta Gorda in 1998. She was a member of The PGI Civic Assoc. and The Red Hat Society. Mary loved reading, going to the moving picture show, cooking, golfing, playing Mahjong, boating and fishing. Mary also loved traveling with her husband, especially to foreign countries. She enjoyed watching college football and basketball, especially The University of Kansas Jayhawks. She will be missed greatly. Mary was the beloved spouse of Richard, her husband of 53 years. She was the treasured mother of her girls, Catherine (Daniel) Hille of Olathe, KS and Mary Christine (Dave) Joe of Paola, KS; and her sons, Charles (Terri) Shelton of Olathe, KS and Steve Shelton of Kansas City, KS. Her memory will be cherished by her granchildren Ryan and Colin Courtney of Olathe, KS; Kyle (Christine) Courtney of Virginia Beach, VA; Lindsay Shelton of Winfield, KS and Kaitlin Shelton of Lenexa, KS; and one great-grandchild, Landon Shelton Courtney.
