Mary Berky

Mary L. Berky, 77, of Port Charlotte passed away July 31, 2006. She was born January 2, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA to Salvatore and Adeline (Mazzola) Schiro. Mary was a hairdresser and owned her own shop, she was also a nurse’s aide for several years. Before moving to Port Charlotte 27 years ago, she worked for 10 years with Boeing Aircraft. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Port Charlotte and sang in the choir. Mary spent 16 years as a teacher’s aide for at Community Christian School. She was known for loving all “her kids” at the school and took great joy in taking care of her family. Mary will be greatly missed by her daughter, Marie (John) Jamison of Stone Mountain, GA; brother, John Schiro of Houston, TX; and grandchildren, Natalie and John Jamison of Stone Mountain, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in December of 2005. A memorial service in celebration of Mary’s life will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 12, 2006 at St. James Episcopal Church.
