Marvin "Wayne" Coulter Jr., 55 of Punta Gorda passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at his home. Wayne was born on Feb. 28, 1958 in Volga, South Dakota. He grew up in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota and graduated from Hills Beaver Creek H.S. in MN in 1976. After high school he enlisted into the United States Air Force. He met and married his wife Christine Marie Henson on April 6 1987 while they were both stationed in Okinawa Japan. The Air Force brought he and his family to Florida in 1987 and he retired from MacDill AFB, Tampa, Fl in 1994. The family moved from Brandon, Fl to the Punta Gorda area in October of 1997 when he was hired on at the Punta Gorda Airport. When he became ill, he held the title of the Airport Security Director. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast for many years and enjoyed nothing better than going on weekend excursions or long vacations with his wife on their Harley. Marvin will be greatly missed by his wife of 26 years, Chris; father, Marvin Wayne and step-mother, Betty Coulter of Sioux Falls, S.D; sister, Brenda Rappaport of Tampa, Fl; sons, Brandon W. ( Lauren Borchardt) Coulter of Vacaville, CA, Daniel B. Lamb-Coulter of Pt. Charlotte, Fl, Dustin W. Coulter & Rebecca Gooding of Lewisville, TX; Grandchildren, Hayden Rae, Aiden Michael & Avry Lee Coulter and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends. He was preceded in death by mother, Joyce (Hanner) Griffin; grandparents - Florence (Hammock) Sheppard, Lee James Hanner, and George W. & Elsie R. (Friedel) Coulter. A visitation will be 11 to 1pm, Saturday, December 7, 2013 with a service to celebrate Wayne's life to follow at 1pm at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be at 11am, Monday, December 9, 2013 at Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society with emphasis on head & neck cancer research.
