Martin L. Counterman, Jr.

Martin Lester Counterman, Jr., 57, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away January 28, 2017. He was the son of Geraldine and Martin L. Counterman, Sr., born October 9, 1959 in Chicago, IL. Martin was a Lt for the Charlotte County Sheriff Office in the Dispatch Dept. and then worked as a deaf interrupter/instructor at Charlotte High School. He worked as a Communications Officer at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport before retiring. Martin was a children's Pastor at Liberty Community Church and volunteered for the Red Cross. Martin enjoyed fishing, reading, working with children and will be remembered as a family man. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 35 years, Sherri; mother, Geraldine Counterman; son, Aaron Counterman; brothers, David and Rick; brother-in-law, Jon (Debbi) Whiteley and nephew, Josiah Whiteley. A celebration of Martin's life will be held at 6 pm, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Faith Baptist Church, Sarasota and at 11am, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Liberty Community Church, North Port Charlotte.
