Martha J. Vasey

February 22, 1929 — January 12, 2022

On January 12, 2022, we sadly said goodbye to Martha Jane Vasey. Martha Jane was born in Benton, Illinois on February 22, 1929, to Rev. Ernest and Nova Rice. She learned to play the piano at an early age and blessed many churches in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and Florida. She was valedictorian of her senior class, recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution award, and was lead in several high school performances. As a charter member of the Genesis Christian Church, Martha Jane was a leader in Children’s Ministries and Music Ministries for many years. Her artistic talents also included sewing, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, and baking. Martha Jane and John Vasey were married on August 17, 1947. They enjoyed traveling with their many friends during their retirement years.

Martha Jane is survived by her son, David (Connie) Vasey, daughter, Donna (Terry) Rexroth; three granddaughters, Heather (J) Hernandez, Angela (Ben) Morton and Dena (Zak) Kramer; and four great-grandchildren, Maddox, Wyatt, Liam, and Aubree. She was one of 10 children and is survived by five sisters and one brother.

The memorial service and burial will be an outdoor Celebration of Life at Charlotte Harbor Cemetery, on February 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM. Martha Jane will be laid to rest next to her devoted husband of 72 years.

Donations can be made in her memory to Genesis Christian School. Any inquiries can be made to djrexroth52@gmail.com.
