Marilyn Louise Schott, 75, of Punta Gorda, formerly Brockville, Ontario, Canada passed away peacefully, Sun., Dec. 9, 2012 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center, after a courageous battle with serious illness. She was born September 19, 1937 in Lansdowne, Ontario, to Robert Stewart and Muriel (Yates) Johnston. Marilyn spent many years in nursing. She was a successful entrepreneur, who turned an avid interest in antiques into her first business enterprise, Century Farm Antique, and later a second enterprise Maple Hill Bed and Breakfast. Most of all, Marilyn loved and lived for her family and friends. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Punta Gorda. Marilyn will be enormously missed by her children, Jeff Courtice (Laurie), Jane (Alex) Neocleous, Brian Courtice (Kelly) and Doug (Carolla) Courtice; mother, Muriel; siblings, Pauline (Jim) Garton, Robert Johnston, Judy Lawless (Jim); grandchildren, Christopher, Ben, Kimberly, Andrew, Madelaine, Rebecca and Griffen and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Schott. A visitation will be held 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Friday, December 14, 2012 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. A celebration of Marilyn's life will be at 11:00 am, Sat. December 15, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church, Punta Gorda. To express condolences to the family, please sign the online guest book.
