Marianne H. "Mimi" Bitter, 96, of Punta Gorda passed away peacefully Monday, August 25, 2014, with her loving husband, Bud by her side. She was born on March 27, 1918 in Prague, Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic) to Dr. Siegwart and Erna (nee Steindler) Hermann. Mimi immigrated to New York in the late 1940's and resided in Ossining, NY prior to retiring to Punta Gorda in 1974. She was a graduate of Columbia University with a degree in chemistry. Mimi and Bud enjoyed their retirement in Florida staying active sailing, swimming and working jointly in many projects. Mimi was an avid bridge player and enjoyed Thursday's with the "Happy Hookers" sewing and later playing Mexican train dominoes. Mimi was a loving wife to Irwin "Bud" Bitter, mother to Yvonne (Larry) Sprunger and Ann (Lyn Parker) Bitter and devoted grandmother to Christopher and Eric Sprunger.
